Principal areas of practice
Mr. Higgason's practice focuses on civil appeals and original proceedings in appellate courts. He also handles criminal appeals, as well as commercial and civil trial court litigation, either in full or in conjunction with other counsel. When working with other counsel, he provides briefing support and argument on various matters, including dispositive motions, trial briefs, and jury charge.
Mr. Higgason has handled cases involving a wide range of legal issues, including antitrust, attorney discipline, contract disputes, conversion, creditors' rights in bankruptcy, deceptive trade practices, defamation, duty-to-defend, election procedures, employment, first amendment freedom of speech and freedom of religion, fraud, medical malpractice, merger, mineral rights, negligence, nuisance, premises liability, products liability, property rights, trade secrets, trespass, unauthorized practice of law, and wrongful death.
Mr. Higgason also provides legal counsel to businesses, recording and performing artists, and nonprofit corporations.
